Meet the 2024-2025 URI SWE E-Board!

PRESIDENT

Emily Principe

My name is Emily Principe and I’m a senior double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Italian! I’ve met so many amazing people through SWE, and I can’t wait to help the club grow this year. Apart from SWE, I’m also a mentor in the Women in Engineering Mentor Program and in AIChE. In my free time I love to go on walks on the beach and read. I also love  writing and hope to be a published author someday!

VICE PRESIDENT

Isabella Contreras

Hi, my name is Isabella Contreras and I am a senior biomedical engineering major in the Spanish IEP. I have been involved in SWE since freshman year and have loved being involved in the Outreach committee and being Outreach Chair last year. I have met so many wonderful people through SWE and can’t wait to see what this year brings. Outside of SWE I am the president of IEEE, works as a tutor and receptionist at the academic enchancement center and a part of the engineering mentor program.

TREASURER

Franny Duong

Hi my name is Franny and I’m excited to be this year’s treasurer! I am a sophomore studying biomedical engineering in the Chinese IEP. This will be my second year in SWE and my favorite part is the mentorship and support you get from the upperclassman (especially those in your major). Outside of SWE I am also the treasurer of Asian student association (ASA), part of IEEE and the treasurer of the URI badminton club. In my free time I like to do gymnastics, make music and do colorguard. Feel free to come to me anytime, I’m always willing to help!

OUTREACH CHAIR

Abby Tadamala

Hi everyone! My name is Abby Tadamala, and I'm a junior Electrical Engineering major with minors in math and robotics. I've been a part of SWE since last year, and this is my second year on e-board. I love being a part of this organization because of the amazing community, and professional development opportunities. Outside of SWE, I am a member of IEEE and a PINK woman. I also do undergraduate research with Dr. Jeong and Dr Adhikari. I am WEM mentor, and a COE student ambassador, and an ambassador for the ECBE department. Outside of school, I like to go to the gym, read, and cook!

SOCIAL CHAIR

Luci Schneider

Hi! My name is Luci Schneider, I’m a junior double majoring in biomedical engineering and applied mathematics. I have been a part of SWE since freshman year. Last year I was a part of the outreach committee, and this year I’m super excited to be a part of the executive board as social chair. One of my favorite parts of SWE is having a supportive community for academics, friendships, and connections. Outside of SWE I am a part of the schools Club Field Hockey team and I will also be working in the BMI lab on campus with Dr. Abiri. I can’t wait for what this year will bring and to be more involved in SWE!

HISTORIAN

Lacey Bowen

Hi! My name is Lacey Bowen, and I'm a junior Civil Engineering and Spanish major. I have been apart of SWE since freshman year, and this is my first year on E-board. My favorite part of SWE is volunteering for the SWEnext events, in order to help inspire the next generation of women in engineering! I love the supportive environment that this organization creates, as well as the professional development opportunities. Outside of SWE, I enjoy writing music, traveling, swimming, and watching hockey. I am so excited to see what this year of SWE brings!

COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR

Gabby Carlomagno

Hey Everyone! My name is Gabby Carlomagno, and I’m a sophomore Computer Engineering and Spanish IEP major. This is my second year in SWE and my favorite part of SWE is making friends and meeting new people who also are passionate about engineering. Along with SWE, I’m also apart of  IEEE, SHPE, DPHIE and on the Crew team. I love to play soccer, read and bake!

ENGINEERING REPRESENTATIVE

Maria Morrow

Hi! My name is Maria and I’m a junior mechanical engineering major. I’m excited to be one of your engineering representatives and to be on your outreach committee. I’ve been a member of SWE since my freshman year and have meet so many wonderful and intelligent girls here. The encouragement and empowerment of young women in STEM is something I’ve always been passionate about and SWE is an organization that takes pride in those motives. I’m grateful for the support SWE has given me professionally as well as academically. On campus, I am also part of the Women in Engineering Mentor Program. Outside of SWE, i enjoy the beach, cooking, painting and playing the piano!

ENGINEERING REPRESENTATIVE

Michaela Montalvo

Hi! My name is Michaela. I am a junior Civil Engineering major pursuing minors in both Math and Spanish. My favorite part about SWE is the SWEnext events where we teach young girls about STEM and engineering as a whole. Besides SWE, I am also a Resident Academic Mentor (RAM) for the College of Engineering. Whenever I have free time, I enjoy reading. My favorite genre of literature is mystery. I also like to run with my friends. I’m looking forward to this year as engineering rep of SWE.

GRADUATE CHAIR

Leonie Ottie

Hello! My name is Leonie Otte, and I am a graduate student in Industrial and Systems Engineering. I am from Germany and was introduced to SWE 2021 when I came for my master’s degree at the University of Rhode Island. It is my second year on the e-board as the graduate chair. I enjoy being part of this organization because of the great community across fields and grades, the professional development opportunities, and the support from all members. Outside of SWE, I like to be active, spend time with friends, and travel to new destinations.

FACULTY ADVISOR

Dr. Valerie Maier-Speredelozzi

Dr. Speredelozzi is a lifelong member of SWE and currently serves as a professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Rhode Island
