VICE PRESIDENT

Maria Morrow

Field of Study: Mechanical Engineering

Minor in Robotics

Year: Senior

Hometown: Ravena, NY

Joined: Member since freshman year (fall 2022)

Work Experience:
This past summer, I interned at Sensata Technologies in their Vehicle Business Unit as a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern. Before that, I spent two years interning at an engineering consulting company. On Campus I’m an undergraduate researcher and a Program Assistant for Campus Rec.

Why SWE:
I joined SWE because I loved the idea of a community of women supporting each other in engineering. I didn’t grow up around any engineers and was one of the only girls at my high school interested in the field, so it was exciting to finally meet a network of women who valued the same things I did

Hobbies:
Outside of school, I love cooking, music, going to the beach, lifting, and playing rec volleyball with friends!

Vice President
Treasurer

TREASURER

Franny Duong

Field of Study: Biomedical Engineering and Chinese IEP

Minor in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Year: Junior

Hometown: East Lyme, CT

Joined: Freshman year (Fall 2023)

Work Experience: I work as an undergraduate researcher in a nanotechnology lab at URI.

Why SWE: I joined SWE to push myself not only socially but professionally. SWE has given me many great mentors and connected me to so many other women engineers that I would've never met without SWE.

Hobbies: Outside of SWE I am heavily involved in the Asian Students Association and dabble in a variety of sports.

Fun Fact: I know 4 languages!

OUTREACH CHAIR

Abby Clarke

Field of Study: Civil Engineering

Year: Senior

Hometown: East Greenwich, RI

Joined: Junior year (Fall 2024)

Work Experience: This past summer I was a structural engineering intern at WSP (formerly Odeh Engineers) and last summer I was a Project Engineering Intern at Sevenson Environmental. On campus, I work at the AEC as a tutor/receptionist as well as a TA for the Physics Department.

Why SWE: I joined SWE because during my senior year of high school I was invited to the Women in Engineering Day hosted by SWE and it was an awesome opportunity for me to see what it’s like to be a young engineering student at URI. SWE is also a great opportunity to give back to your community through our Outreach Program, SWENext. Not only is it fun to volunteer at these events, but it’s also super rewarding in the process.

Hobbies: going to the beach, spending time with friends, thrifting + antiquing, reading, bedazzling random things, legos

Fun Fact: I just adopted two kittens named Cleo and Ozzy (but I call them Sweetie and Mister Stinky)!
